Our Dog Training Course: A Three-Stage Approach
Stage 1
The first stage of our dog training program is the integration phase. During this week-long period, we focus on gently introducing your dog to our daycare environment. Our goal is to ensure that your dog feels safe and comfortable as they become familiar with our facilities and staff.
Stage 2
In the second stage, we concentrate on basic training in a quiet, distraction-free setting around our barn. This stage also lasts about a week and provides ample space and tranquillity for your dog to learn and master essential commands and behaviours.
Stage 3
The final stage involves training in busier environments, including on-lead training at local dog parks, off-lead areas (though your dog will remain on-lead for training purposes), the seafront promenade, and even bustling high streets. This phase prepares your dog to be calm and well-behaved in a variety of real-world settings, such as cafes and busy public spaces.
Parent Training
From the fourth week onwards, we also include parent training sessions as part of our third phase. These sessions typically take place on Fridays for boarding and intensive training dogs. We encourage parents to pick up their dog between 11 AM and 2 PM on Fridays so that we can conduct a joint training session together. Afterward, parents can take their dog home for the weekend, allowing time to practice what they've learned. The dog can then be dropped back off on Monday, where we can provide feedback and make any necessary adjustments. If needed, Monday can also be added as a training day later in the course.
We believe that including parents in the training process is crucial for achieving the best results. However, if it’s challenging for parents to attend every weekend or fortnightly due to holidays or distance, we recommend at least one session together in the middle of the course and another at the end. This ensures that both the dog and the owner are on the same page and can continue training effectively at home.
