Where dogs learn that learning is fun!

The day school programme at the Fairy Tails offers a fun and safe place for your dog to stay, play and learn!

It is a great way for them to stay happy, active and busy. It also gives them the opportunity to socialise with fellow furry friends. For training and enrichment we have plenty of space, learning equipment and timetabled activities. 

Please only schedule an appointment once your dog has been accepted into the school.

Enrichment

Physically and behaviourally, our dogs were built for a different world, one more like their wild counterparts. A feral dog may spend as much as 70 percent of its day hunting and searching for food. This requires quite a bit of physical energy expenditure and use of problem-solving skills.

For many of our canine companions, their day consists of eight or more hours just waiting for us to come home, and even when we are home, many of us cannot devote as much time to our dogs as we would like. This makes it difficult for dogs to meet their normal needs for movement and stimulation.

After years of domestication and selective breeding, dogs have become the best companion but they still need enrichment in their life, that's where we come in.

Our schooling programme is designed to engage dogs in a safe and effective manner with positive behaviour modifications.

Admission Criteria

In order to keep our staff and our doggy clients safe at school, we need to follow the following procedures when your dog joins the school.



• All new dogs must have an introductory assessment to determine their suitability, followed by at least three taster sessions varying in duration
• We cannot accept intact male dogs over six months old in the school (unless under one of our training programmes)
• By law we cannot accept any breed or derivative (cross breed) of banned dogs. Our assessment is the sole criteria
• We maintain a healthy ratio of different dog sizes therefore we may put your doggy on a waiting list until a suitable space becomes available
• We do not accept dogs with risky behaviour issues - dogs learning to behave can either join our dog training pipeline or employ any other dog trainer to work with the behaviour issues first

• We cannot accept dogs that are allergic, are on routine medication or have ongoing medical issues or dogs who are in recovery
  
• Please note, we cannot accept dogs before 08:00 am in the morning due planning restrictions from the HBC
  
• Please come and visit us to see what we do. Strictly by appointment (no exceptions) after 4:00 pm on weekdays without a dog
  
• Declaration: If your dog presents a risk to our staff or other dogs, then; 
  In line with our legal obligation to keep our staff safe under H&S regulations and the Dangerous Dog Act and to keep other dogs safe under animal welfare regulations, we reserve the right to muzzle your dog, restrict your dog's movement, isolate your dog, or immediately send the dog home

Getting ready for doggy day school!

Once your dog has been accepted into the school, here are the items required:

• Collar with ID tag containing your up-to-date address and phone number
• Appropriate dog collar as recommended for handling
• Non retractable lead
• A fitted harness with a handle
• Vaccination card
• Microchip (address up to date)
• Flea treatment self-declaration
• Lunch box with your dog's name written on it containing your dog's normal meal
• A blanket from home
• Treats: plain boiled chicken only (no other treats allowed due to allergies)
• Registration form signed and submitted before the first full day

We know that dogs are sensitive to the emotional states of those around them. This is why every member of our team is trained to maintain a calm and positive atmosphere around all our dogs. We strive to meet and exceed your expectations of care, and that shows in our doggy clients' waggy tails!

Play time, lunch time and nap time. When you have a whole bunch of pooches structure is important. Together with daily basic obedience practice, your dog will learn good manners and communication skills. Our trainers love spending time in the day school when they are not out training!

Day school plans to suit your needs

Confidence building sessions (CBS)

£15 per session whilst your dog is at Day School

Whilst at school, your pooch can take part in training sessions to build their confidence and learn new skills. Designed for dogs who need a bit of extra help. Each session is 45 to 60 minutes long and recorded on camera. You will receive a link to the recorded training video.
